The builder
The builder is where you build, test, publish and debug one workflow. Open it from a row on a
project’s page. Its address is https://superflows.app/app/workflows/<id>.
The layout
Section titled “The layout”- Node library, on the left: every node type, grouped by what it does, with a search box.
Press
/to jump to the search. The workflow templates are listed underneath. - Canvas, in the middle: the draft’s nodes and the edges between them.
- Panel, on the right, with three tabs: Step, Test and Runs.
On a phone, the library is a column of icons and the panel sits under the canvas.
The header shows the workflow’s status, then Pause or Resume once it has a published version, and the next scheduled run when there is one. On the right are Undo, Redo, Save, Run draft, Publish, the assistant, and More. More holds Workflow settings, Import, Export and Full history, which opens the workflow’s run history. On a phone, Pause and Resume move under More.
| Group | Nodes |
|---|---|
| Start | Trigger |
| Act | Action, Notification, Database |
| Think | Agent |
| Branch | Conditional, Decision |
| Wait | Delay |
Add and connect nodes
Section titled “Add and connect nodes”- Drag a node from the library onto the canvas.
- Drag from one node’s output handle to another node to draw an edge. The run goes along it.
- Select the node to edit it in the Step tab.
A workflow starts from a Trigger, and every other node needs an incoming edge. Nodes can’t form a loop. A node can have several incoming edges, so branches can meet again, but only one of them may fire in a run. See Runs and approvals.
Edit a step
Section titled “Edit a step”Select a node. The Step tab shows its settings and ends with General: a Title and a
Description shown under it on the canvas. Most fields accept variables: type {{ to pick one.
See Templates and variables.
A node missing a required setting is marked on the canvas, and Publish names it.
To remove a node, select it and press Delete node at the bottom of the Step tab. Deleting only changes the draft: the live version keeps running until you publish.
Select an edge to give it a Label, shown on the connection.
Undo, redo and save
Section titled “Undo, redo and save”Undo and Redo step through your edits on the canvas and in the panel. The keys are Cmd+Z and Shift+Cmd+Z, or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y on Windows. Inside a text field, the keys undo that field’s typing instead.
Save stores the draft. Run draft and Publish save it first too. Saving never changes the live version. See Versions and publishing.
Test the draft
Section titled “Test the draft”- Open the Test tab.
- If the workflow has several triggers, pick the one to start from. Selecting a trigger on the canvas picks it too.
- Type the trigger payload. JSON is readable field by field as
{{ trigger.<field> }}. An App event trigger fills in its app’s example payload when one exists. - Press Run draft with this payload, or Run draft in the header.
Only the draft runs by hand. The published version starts from its schedule and app event triggers, or through the API.
The draft is saved, then it runs. The Runs tab opens on the new run, and each node on the canvas takes the color of its step’s status as the run goes. A draft run counts against your plan’s monthly runs like any other run.
Read a run
Section titled “Read a run”The Runs tab has three lists: Runs, App events and Versions. Select a run to show it on the canvas. The panel lists its steps in run order with their duration. Select a step, or its node, to see its input, each output field and any error.
When the draft has changed since that run, Show its diagram shows the diagram the run used, read-only. Edit the draft goes back to the draft.
Runs and approvals explains statuses, failures and approvals.
The assistant
Section titled “The assistant”The assistant beside the builder knows the workflow, the selected node and the open run, including the step a failed run stopped at. It can add and change nodes and save the draft. Each of its edits is one Undo step.
