Slack
Connect Slack when a workflow or an agent should talk in your workspace: post a daily summary, answer a question in a thread, route a request to the right channel, or start a run when someone writes in a channel or mentions the app.
Who can connect it
Section titled “Who can connect it”An owner or admin connects Slack once for the whole organization. A member asks one of them. Every workflow and agent then uses the same connection. See Connecting apps.
Connect Slack
Section titled “Connect Slack”- Open the Apps page.
- Press Connect an app.
- Choose Slack in the Super Connect window.
- Sign in to Slack, choose the workspace, and allow the app.
- Finish when the window reaches Done.
Slack installs as a bot, so a Slack connection is a workspace. On the Apps page, the App column reads Bot user and the Workspace column shows the Slack workspace. Open the row to see the workspace address, the bot’s handle and its time zone. To use a second workspace, connect it as a second connection.
What you get
Section titled “What you get”A Slack connection brings actions and events. Actions send and update messages, read threads, and search messages, channels, users and files. Events start a run when someone posts a message in a channel, mentions the app, adds a reaction, joins a channel, or creates a public channel. The live list of both is in the builder: the Action node’s picker for actions, and the Event list of an App event trigger for events. An agent uses only the actions you grant it. Action steps never offer a destructive action; an agent can be granted one, and it always waits for a member’s approval.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Actions post as the bot, and the bot must be a member of a channel to read or post there. Invite it to the channel in Slack. When a trigger’s filter names a channel the bot isn’t in, the builder shows Invite the bot to #channel.
- The message event covers public channels the bot is in. Messages from bots, the app’s own posts, edits and deletions don’t start a run, so a workflow that replies in a channel doesn’t start itself again.
- A reaction trigger’s filter must name a public channel.
- Slack event filters match exactly.
- The Slack assistant template answers when someone mentions the app. See Workflow templates.
Reauthorize Slack
Section titled “Reauthorize Slack”When the connection’s health reads failing or needs reauthorization, an owner or admin opens the Apps page, presses … on its row, then Reauthorize, and signs in to Slack again. The connection stays the same, so workflows, triggers and agent grants need no change. See Reauthorize a connection.
